Sierra Leone like other African countries is going through a political, economic, culture and social transition. During this period it has become even more important to go beyond the passive and reactive development practices, which characterized past development efforts and adopt a more active stance with regards to changes taking place in the world as a whole and Sierra Leone in particular.

There is the need to abandon the "fire brigade attitude" which mainly responds to situations and rather adopt strategies, which anticipate events. This presupposes that Sierra Leone going beyond short-term considerations and adopt long-term which will ensure the creation of the means to face future challenges.

The rationale of the National Long-Term Perspectives Studies - Sierra Leone Vision 2025 Programme is to provide Sierra Leone with the framework for planning its political, economic and social development for the next 25 years, ensuring the setting out of realistic long-term strategies and policy options in a manner that is comprehensible to all Sierra Leoneans whether at home or in the Diaspora.

The creation of this website is primarily to solicit the aspirations of Sierra Leoneans in the Diaspora, which is crucial to the philosophy of the NLTPS process, which is the full participation of all concerned.
