Beyond the official launching

With the official launching of NLTPS, it is hoped that the programme would have received the moral and political clout it needs for its successful implementation. But there remains two very strategic activities to be concluded to adequately arm the NCT, NSC and the MWG with the requisite skills and confidence for the execution of the programme. These are:

  • training of the NCT,NST and MWG in the NLTPS methodology and,
  • study tours to one or two countries that have conducted the NLTPS and are regarded as success stories.
These activities will pave the way for the First National Vision 2025 Workshop where nation aspirations will be collected, and a draft report prepared and presented in National consultation s at both district and municipal levels. The document will also be discussed at focussed group workshops, on Radio/Television, in newspaper write-ups and Vision 2025 pamphlets. This will be followed by the commissioning of strategic research by study groups on key thematic issues that emerged from the national vision workshop.

Scenario Development and Strategy Formulation will be undertaken, followed by validation workshops on scenarios and strategy. A second National Vision 2025 Workshop will be held to synthesis the findings of the participatory processes into a final draft document to be followed by Focus Group Discussions with the private sector.

From these draft 6 documents, a Vision 2025 Book, Summary Report and Video Documentary will be developed, followed by a National Conference where the Sierra Leone Vision 2025 will be adopted as the National Development Document for the country for the next 25 years.

The Sierra Leone Visions 2025 will provide the basis for all national development activities of the country. National and international development organisations and the private sector will use it for planning their short and medium-term activities for the development of Sierra Leone. This document will be based on a shared-national vision characterised by citizen participation and national learning. Thus every Sierra Leonean is called upon to fully participate in the process and to dialogue freely and frankly with a sense of commitment.
